Today is an exciting day. I got my copy of this month’s Just Cross Stitch magazine in the mail.I just love getting my hands on a new cross stitch book or magazine. It always calls for a good long sit down to peruse that baby from cover to cover. But this time is special.
A little background for you. I just turned 50 and I have been cross stitching since I was about 12 when my wicked witch of the west sister-in-law (now, ex SIL) bought me my very first kit of a siamese cat (very complicated pattern by the way). I had played with some stamped embroidery with my mom for years before that but I just fell in love with the whole concept of making these stunning pictures by just making little x’s. Combine that with my first love in life…COLOR and I was sooo hooked.
A stitcher was born. One that could never find just the right pattern. I always changed stuff up in some way to suit my taste and dreamed of stitching my days away and stitching my own designs. Alas, four kids, a husband, many pets and jobs got in the way of my happy little fantasy.
But stitching and designing has always been my passion and now I have the time to work on that little fantasy. One of the huge, number one things that has been on my bucket list was to be published in a cross stitch magazine. It just seems like such an honor to have something that I made in a magazine.
So, today is exciting because it means that in about 2 months, I will be receiving my next issue of Just Cross Stitch magazine and it will be the first one that has one of my designs in it. It is going to be amazing to cross that goal off my list!! Although I can’t tell you anything about the design yet, I will say it is my all time favorite and I can’t wait to share it with the world.
There have been people wondering about some of these threads being discontinued but it looks like that is not the case. Article provides a good list of previous discontinued threads that is worth keeping around just in case it comes up in a future stitching projects. Check it out here!
For those cross stitchers out there…which would you rather buy, a kit or just the pattern? Inquiring minds want to know….please leave me a comment and let me know.
Love this magazine! Watch for my designs in the August issue of Just CrossStitch (on sale June 27) and the Just CrossStitch Christmas Ornaments issue (on sale September 19)!!! https://www.facebook.com/JustCrossStitchMagazine
Y’all…are you seeing this April the Giraffe thing on Facebook?? Seriously, I get it. I do. I wouldn’t mind watching a little bit of the little sweetie being born. I am born and raised Wisconsin farm girl. But do we have to watch the whole pregnancy? Why jump the gun? Poor April is being stalked. I’m just saying maybe wait to go live until the poor thing is actually getting ready to pop that thing out.
So I am adding a sweet fractal giraffe pattern today in honor of April and her very public pregnancy. Enjoy!
